General Requirements to Study in USA

  • A valid passport of the applicant
  • Two recent passport-sized photographs with a white background.
  • A duly signed application form and its photocopies.
  • Original letter of acceptance from educational institute or university listing contact details, date of commencement and completion of the course, programmes of studies to be followed.
  • Photocopy of previous academic qualification (Mark sheets -from 10th class till the last degree obtained).
  • Visa application fee receipts.

Other Requirements

  • Work experience certificate (if any).
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP) describing the reason for applying to a particular college and highlight why you are a perfect fit for the college and why the college should accept you.
  • At least, two Academic reference letters from professors who have taught you most recently.
  • If you have work experience then two letters of recommendation (LOR) from the employer/manager who knows you well and can comment on your professional abilities.
  • Resume
  • Travel insurance certificate.

Funds Required to Study in USA

An applicant has to show that he has the financial support to cover his tuition fees and living expenses. The documents should give credible evidence that an applicant has enough readily-available funds to meet all expenses for the first year of study and that you have access to funds sufficient to cover all expenses while he remain in the United States. Proof of funds can be provided by following ways :

  • Fixed Deposit Receipts
  • If the funds are as fixed deposit then, bank must issue a letter confirming the availability of same. Bank letter must be dated less than 30 days from the date of visa application.
  • Bank loan sanction letter.
  • Bank Statements
  • If an applicant is financially sponsored by another person then he/she should bring the proof of his/her relationship to the sponsor (such as your birth certificate).

IELTS Requirements to Study in USA

  • For undergraduate courses, an applicant should have scored at least 6.0 in IELTS and 80 in TOEFL.
  • For postgraduate course, an applicant needs to have scored 6.5 in IELTS and 90 in TOEFL

Academic Requirements to Study in USA

Graduate

An applicant has to provide

  • All India Senior School Certificates awarded by the Central Board of Secondary Education and Higher School Certificate (HSC) or Indian School Certificate.
  • Certificate of diploma (if any).
  • Good score in SAT,TOEFL,GRE,GMAT and IELTS

Post-graduate

An applicant has to provide

  • All India Senior School Certificates awarded by the Central Board of Secondary Education and Higher School Certificate (HSC) or Indian School Certificate.
  • Certificate of diploma (if any).
  • Certificate of successful completion of Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proof of proficiency in English language.

Application Procedure to Study in USA

  • Complete the application to the institutions of your choice.
  • At the time of application for admission you will be required to submit several documents including proof of previous academic qualifications and proof of your English language ability.
  • Once a US education provider accepts you as one of their students, they will issue a Confirmation of acceptance of the student i.e. i-20.
  • This i-20 form is necessary to enter the U.S. for the first time.
  • After completing your i-20 form you have to pay SEVIS fee and the visa application fee. This visa fee has to be paid at the approved Axis bank.
  • The visa application form, known as the DS 160 needs to be completed online. In order to complete the form you will need to have completed all steps up to this point. After successfully completing the online form, you will receive an application ID number and password, and you will be able to access the confirmation page of the DS-160.
  • The next step is to make an appointment for your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy. Appointments are booked online. Once your appointment has been booked, you will be able to view your appointment letter.
  • On the date of your appointment you will need to take your entire visa documents with you to the interview.
  • On same day of your interview, you will be informed about the visa decision. In case the visa is refused, your passport will be handed over to you directly by the visa officer. For approved visas the passport will be returned to our office, with the visa stamp, approximately one week after your interview.
