University of Auckland
Located in Auckland, the University of Auckland is the largest university in the New Zealand. Established in 1883, the university has more than 40,000 students. The university of Auckland is ranked 81st in the QS World Rankings in 2016-17. The university is made up of eight faculties and six campuses and being situated in the New Zealand’s largest country, it is the more attractive destination for numerous students around the world.
University of Otago
Established in 1869, the University of Otago is New Zealand’s oldest institute of higher education. Located in Dunedin, it has over 21,000 students enrolled in the university every year. Victoria University of Wellington
The Victoria University of Wellington was started by the New Zealand Parliament in 1897 as a part of the University of New Zealand. It is currently located in Kelburn, in Wellington. The university is renowned for its programmes in Law, the humanities and scientific disciplines. The Victoria University of Wellington has been ranked 229th in the world’s top 500 universities by the QS World University Rankings. The university is host to about 21,000 students in its nine faculties. The university is named after Queen Victoria. This is because it was opened during the year of the 60th anniversary of her coronation.
The university was established in 1990, when the University of Canterbury split into two different universities based on the campus. It was formerly known as Lincoln College, Canterbury, and is located about 15 km from the center city of Christchurch, in Lincoln, Canterbury. There are currently 4500 students attending Lincoln University with their degrees in agriculture and other related field. The university also provides degrees in technological fields like computer science and engineering. The Lincoln University is ranked 343 by QS World Rankings in 2016-17 and ranked in 401-500 by Times Higher Education World Rankings in 2016-17.
Established in 1925, Massey University is one of the largest universities in the country of New Zealand, with over 35,000 students that are attending the university. Massey University is the only university in New Zealand offering degrees in aviation, dispute resolution, veterinary medicine, and Nano science. There are several different campuses that Massey University currently oversees. Two are in Palmerston North and one is in Wellington, and the other in Auckland.
University of Waikato
Established in 1964, the University of Waikato is the fifth highest ranked university in the New Zealand. The university is also placed at the 324th rank by the QS Worlds Rankings in 2016-2017. This ranking has placed the University of Waikato in the top 3% of all universities worldwide. It currently has over 13,000 students enrolled in the university every single year. It started as a teacher’s college and is still well known for its educational programs. Even though since it became a university, it has expanded into a number of different educational fields and has provided a well-rounded education for a number of people. It’s one of the younger top universities in New Zealand and is located in the cities of Hamilton and Tauranga on the North Island.
Auckland University of Technology
The Auckland University of Technology (AUT) which was originally known as the Auckland Technical School was established in 2000. Currently, there are over 27,000 students enrolled at the Auckland University of Technology every single year. It has about 2,500 of those students as international students. The international student population is varied with students from over 85 different countries around the world, giving it a very diverse student population. There are currently about 2,000 graduate students. The university is offering a number of different educational programs, from traditional liberal arts degrees to more advanced post graduate degrees.
